Game On! is a short story I’m serving up on Weekend Writing Warriors for #8Sunday.

A semi-pro football player meets a reserved teacher who intrigues him with an offer to play a sexual game. But Heath is interested in more than her game. In this week’s snippet they’ve left the beach and are at his cottage when Jordan decides to take a chance on Heath. She approaches him at the door to the outside shower.

“I’m sorry. I over reacted, when you called me darling. Someone used to call me that,” Jordan apologized.

“Someone who hurt you,” he replied with a tense jaw.

Her gaze fell.

“I know where you’re coming from,” he said, reaching for her hand.

This time she didn’t retreat. Being so close unnerved her, yet his magnetic blue gaze enticed her. Beyond his handsome features and Adonis body, he emanated a protective nature that encouraged her to trust.
