Beatrice’s Secret Belief – Sarah Hegger’s Sweet Bea

Sweet BeaToday I’m interviewing Beatrice of Sarah Hegger’s newest historical, Sweet Bea.

Welcome Beatrice. Will you tell us a little about yourself.

I’m the youngest child of Sir Arthur of Anglesea. I’m almost nineteen and despite three engagements, I’ve never married.

What is something about you no one would believe?

I don’t think I was born into the right family. The rest of my family are all renowned for something. My sister, Faye, is the beauty. Roger is a mighty knight, like our father. William is a favorite with the ladies and a skilled courtier. Henry is admired for his piety. I am known for finding trouble constantly.

Sometimes trouble finds us.  So, is there a favorite place you’d like to travel away from trouble?

I would like to go anywhere. I have never been away from my father’s demesne. I think I will start with London. They say there are so many people there and they come from many different places.

I’ve never been there either. Would you say you rely on beauty or intelligence to attract a man’s attention?

Most women are admired for their beauty, which is a pity as I am not nearly as lovely as my older sister, Faye, but I do think I have a very keen mind. My brother, Henry, will tell you that I am a silly goose, but he does not know the things that go on in my mind.

Don’t you hate when people under estimate you? Who’s your BFF? What do you do for girl time?

My best friend is a boy, Tom. We have known each other since we were babes. His mother is my nurse. We do not have ‘girl time’. Tom is happy to follow and do whatever I want to do. Actually, Tom regards himself as something akin to my keeper, which is rather galling at times. He can be very bossy, just like his mother.

I’ve had several close guy friends over the years. Is there a specific body type, hair, or eye color that attracts you? Does your current love interest meet the criteria?

Garrett is perfect. He has dark hair and eyes the color of rich treacle. He has such broad shoulders and is so strong. I could not imagine any other man would catch my eye.

So are you saving yourself for marriage?

**Blushes** I am still a virgin. Chaste girls do not take lovers, they wait until they are wed and then remain faithful to their husband.

What do you believe is your most attractive feature? And if you could change one thing about your body what would it be?

I have beautiful hair, it is silky and straight and finest flaxen. Not even Faye has hair as lovely as mine. As for change, I am too tall and have not enough womanly curves for beauty. I would like to be like one of those tiny, delicate women with big doe eyes. Like the ones you see in the tapestries. They always look so sad, though, and I do not think I would like to be sad all the time.

Us shorties would love to be tall like you. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?

I come from a line of great warriors. I would like to do something worthy of my bloodline. Then, I could prove myself to my family and they would be in awe of me and not merely tease me all the time.

I hope that happens for you, Bea. Now tell us what you find most physically impressive about your love interest.

Garrett has the most wondrous chest. It is so broad and strong.

What intrigues you most about him?

He has so many secrets and he is delightfully wicked at times. The things he says make me blush. He whispers things to me that no man should say to a maid and I like it.

You seem smitten. What worries you the most?

That my family will find out about Garrett. He is not of noble birth and they would not look kindly on his attentions to me. My father might even beat him, or worse.

I’m thinking the big guy can hold his own with your father. Do you have a secret no one knows? Can you tell it or will it be a spoiler.

I have been secretly meeting with Garrett all summer.

Whooa, and there you have it. Tell us where to find your book.

You can read an excerpt from Sweet Bea on Sarah Hegger’s website under the My Books tab. Here’s a blurb to get you started:

Is anything sweeter than revenge?

In a family of remarkable people, ordinary Beatrice strives to prove herself worthy. When her family is threatened with losing everything, she rushes to London to save them. Unfortunately, she chooses as her savior the very man who will see her family brought low.

Garrett has sworn vengeance on Sir Arthur of Anglesea for destroying his life when he was a boy and forcing his mother into prostitution for them to survive. He has chosen as his instrument Sir Arthur’s youngest daughter, Beatrice.

Can Beatrice’s goodness teach Garrett that love, not vengeance, is the greatest reward of all?

And if this sounds like your thing, you can pick up a copy at AMAZON or BARNES & NOBLE or pop along to KENSINGTON PUBLISHING for your favorite format.

And in case you were wondering about Sarah Hegger, here’s the official Sarah Hegger B&W_Dversion:

Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Draper, Utah with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.

She is always delighted to hear from you. Sarah can be reached at any and all of the following places:
