Game On! is a short story I’m serving up on Weekend Writing Warriors for #8Sunday. Heath is a semi-pro football player in town for the season when he meets Jordan, a teacher with obvious trust issues, who proposes a sexual game. In this week’s snippet, Jordan meets Heath at his beach house for the second date/body part in their game.

He helped her into the Jeep catching a scant view of her luscious thighs beneath her sundress and his mind shot back to their body parts talk at brunch. Once behind the wheel he asked, “Do you coach sports at your school?”

Her smile faded beneath her tan. “I used to coach field hockey,” she answered, buckling her seat belt. “But, I was recently involved in a lawsuit and…well…coaching during that time would put the school and me in an awkward situation.”

If he didn’t confess to knowledge of her situation now, she’d be mad later. “Well now that you bring that up, I’ll admit I read something about it.”

Her hands trembled, but her jaw remained set. “You Googled me?”

The possible reasons for Jordan not wanting him to pick her up piqued Heath’s curiosity. Privacy, fear or worst of all, she didn’t plan on keeping him in her life long enough for it to matter. He sipped at his beer while waiting on the deck.

Her car turned into the driveway and he exhaled slowly, then descended the stairs.

She’d pinned her hair up and small ringlets framed her face, teasing her temples in the warm breeze.

Heath leaned in, pecked her forehead with a light kiss. “Hello, beautiful.”

A flush of pink kissed her tanned cheeks, rewarding him.
