Game on! is my new short story I’m serving up on Weekend Writing Warriors for their eight sentence Sunday. #8Sunday.
A semi-pro football player meets a teacher who intrigues him with an offer of a different type of game. Heath’s teammate has miss fired a pass on the beach to attract Jordan and her friend’s attention. When Heath introduces himself, she jokes him about being a well-known NFL tight end with the same first name…
His hand enveloped hers with a firm grip. “Sorry no. Ford’s the last name, but you’d make a heck of a corner back the way you picked off that pass.”
His touched electrified her, firing her thoughts in directions she’d been dodging for over a year. “Jordan, sister to three older bothers, and I can tackle too, if necessary,” she added to gauge his response.
Heath let out a low whistle and offered her his beach chair, then dropped cross-legged on the sand. She enthralled him with her spunky nature and long, chestnut hair spilling over toned shoulders to an athletic, yet shapely figure. Her sunglasses hid the feature he sought most.
“So are you guys vacationing?” she asked.
