Game On! is my short story in process that I’m serving up on Weekend Writing Warriors for #8Sunday. A semi-pro football player meets a reserved teacher who intrigues him with an offer to play a sexual game. Heath quickly realizes he interested in more than a game with her.
Jordan cut the ignition and retrieved her cell phone from her bag, cursing her promptness. Heath’s truck was nowhere in the parking lot of the restaurant. Would he even show? He probably wondered which personality she’d be today after her freak show the other day. The few guys interested in her since Richard she hadn’t given a second thought, so why did this one affect her so?
A blaring rock tune roused her attention as a black Jeep pulled into the space next to her. Oh my God… her favorite band. She studied him as his mouth moved to the Shinedown song, and if she hadn’t known better, she might have thought he was chanting a mantra.
He jerked his head in surprise as he slid from his truck. “Hey, didn’t see you there.”
Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s 8 for Game On! For more fun check out other Weekend Writing Warriors‘ blogs.
If you enjoyed the previous snippets from White Doe it is 99c at Amazon. Will Cheyenne return and if so, will Shane learn the real reason she left?
Smiling as I read your eight. It has a daytime drama feel to it with the ‘will’ this and ‘will’ that comment at the end. Humor combined with heat. You can’t miss.

Such a fun story, really enjoying it. Loved the details about the black jeep and the song and how he didn’t realize she was watching him sing along. Great 8!

I like the fun easy going voice of your writing. You also provide a nice buildup to the action with great internal dialogue. Wonderful snippet.

The last line made me laugh. He must’ve felt embarrassed by being caught like that.

Hmmm, sounds like he’s prompt too. And they like the same music. Looks like a good beginning to the relationship. Nice 8, Dani. 🙂
