Shane Takes Flight

Weekend Warrior WritersWhite Doe is my spicy romantic paranormal. Last week the novella began with Shane learning of his great-grandfather’s death and a hope of seeing his lost love Cheyenne again. He drives his Harley to a deserted beach arriving at dusk on a warm October evening to dispel his pent energy by shifting into his alternate form.

He slipped out of his worn jeans and shrugged off his T-shirt. Flexing his muscles, he started his run along the beach. Seconds later, he lunged forwardbigstock_hawk. Wind prickled through newfound feathers, his arms now enormous wings and his feet powerful talons. Lighter and lighter, he ascended skyward; with perfect vision, he soared over a wild and remote beach toward an orange moon shimmering over the Atlantic.

Shane loved and hated his form. It freed him, but left him utterly alone. This was his life—his curse. Now without his great-grandfather, he was unique in it.

Hope enjoyed this week’s post. Check out other author’s eight sentences at Weekend Warrior Writers www.wewriwa.com. If you liked this snippet White Doe is available is currently free at All Romance.

Winter Lights at the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo

Christmas Tree at Elizabethan Gardens
Christmas Tree at Winter Lights in Manteo

Ever since The Elizabethan Gardens began a lighted Christmas tour I’ve wanted to see the Winter Lights in Manteo on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Last weekend, my son and I met my sister-in-law, who lives on OBX, and took the tour. She said this year’s display is the best yet. Each year they continue to grow adding more decorations and lights. Like a kid in a candy store with camera in hand, I clicked away.

Click on the poinsettia tree to take a brief photo tour of the Winter Lights and the Manteo waterfront featuring the masted ship, the Elizabeth II and Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. If you have a opportunity to visit the Outer Banks during the holiday season, the gardens are lit until December 30.
