Game On! is a short story I’m serving up on Weekend Writing Warriors for #8Sunday. Heath is a semi-pro football player in town for the season. He meets Jordan, a teacher with obvious trust issues, who proposes a sexual game. In this week’s snippet, they just left the restaurant and Jordan directs Heath onto Atlantic Avenue.
“Locals call this The Strip,” she said with a sneaky smile.
As he inched through traffic, young women teased guys in other vehicles by baring flesh and mimicking certain acts. From the oncoming lane, a busty brunette leaned out of her convertible and winked at Heath. “Hey stud, you can be my daddy tonight!”
He glanced to Jordan not sure how to take the comment. “Did you do this?”
“It’s liberating, you can be risqué because you probably won’t see the same guy again.”
He suddenly felt old for twenty-eight.

Loving it! I’m trying to decide if I love Jordan or want to smack her. I’m so glad to see a woman so sexually liberated! At the same time, I do feel old (at only 30), since the behavior does seem so immature. I’m definitely sympathizing with Heath in this one. 🙂

Yeah, my heroines tend to be like that. Heath is feeling it more as an aging semi-pro athlete near the end of his career. He’s really searching for a more settled life and this summer is like a last last hurrah for him. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
